Residential architecture and interior design in Madrid
A home, reconsidered as a whole.
Architecture and interiors for the transformation of apartments and residences in Madrid. From the reorganisation of the existing space to materiality, lighting and furniture, each decision is considered as part of the same architectural idea.
Work begins with the plan as it is: the structure that cannot move, the light already available, the way the apartment is entered. From there the sequence is rebuilt — where one arrives, where one gathers, where the house becomes private.
Materials, joinery, lighting and furniture are drawn together with the architecture, before construction, so the finished home reads as one decision rather than a series of them.
Most of the studio's Madrid work is renovation: apartments in Salamanca, Recoletos, Chamberí and Mirasierra, and houses in La Moraleja. The building usually decides more than the brief does — load-bearing walls, ceiling height, the position of risers and the orientation of the façade.
The order of work is deliberate. The plan is resolved first, then light and materials, then furniture and fixed joinery. Because interiors are drawn before construction begins, sockets, lighting circuits and cabinet depths are already in the builder's drawings instead of being resolved on site.
A renovation in Madrid also has an administrative side: community of owners, building regulations, licences, and a programme that has to survive the summer stop. The studio manages that alongside the design work and reports on cost and programme at each stage.
Clients are usually private, often with a home in more than one city. Confidentiality is part of the service: many projects are never published, and those that are appear without the client's name.
