Architecture and interior design for homes in Valencia, Jávea and the Costa Blanca
Living close to the Mediterranean.
Homes shaped by light, proportion, materiality and the particular way of living of the Mediterranean. Architecture and interiors developed as a continuous whole across Valencia, Jávea and the Costa Blanca.
The climate does most of the work. Orientation, shade, cross ventilation and the depth of a threshold decide how a house behaves in August long before any finish is chosen.
The studio holds architecture and interiors together, in Spanish and in English, so a house can be understood clearly from a distance and built without translation between separate teams.
Along the Costa Blanca — Jávea, Dénia, Moraira, Benissa, Altea and Calpe — the site sets the terms. A steep plot, a sea view in one direction and afternoon sun in another usually decide the section of the house before its plan.
Houses here are lived in differently: doors stay open, the kitchen faces the terrace, and the same room has to work for two people in February and for twelve in August. Shade, cross ventilation and the depth of a porch do more for comfort than any installation.
Many owners are foreign and follow the work from abroad. The studio works in Spanish, English, Dutch and French, keeps a single point of contact throughout, and documents the site regularly so decisions can be taken from a distance without losing control.
Renovation of an existing villa is frequent, and often the most valuable work: opening a closed plan towards the light, replacing worn envelopes, and bringing an eighties house up to a level of comfort and material quality it never had.
